Peach Springs — Hualapai Tribe Capital
Most sites claim that it’s 40some miles from Meadview to Peach Springs as if we had wings like our ravens!
Peach Springs is on the other side of the Grand Canyon and we have to drive around the Canyon.
Unfortunately, Google sends you on a DIRT ROAD, Antares Rd. Yes, it’s a shortcut, but I don’t recommend it!

In 2007 I was on my way back from Santa Fe with my nephew, and we decided to take the scenic Rte. 66 and then took the “shortcut” Antares Rd.
NOT a good move. We didn’t know that a major monsoon storm had washed out the DIRT road until we got to the first wash. It wasn’t so bad and we kept on going. Another very bad move. The washes got so bad we had to stop and walk before deciding whether / how to attempt to drive through in my big dually truck with the truck camper.
It got dark. Wash after wash, and it got worse and worse.
When we FINALLY made it to Pierce Ferry, we saw the ROAD CLOSED signs there. Nobody had closed Antares at Rte. 66.
So, you can learn from our mistakes or be adventurous 🙂

Drive carefully on the dirt road, especially after storms. I don’t know how often the Park Service fixes the road after rains.
