Arizona Cypress are my favorite evergreens.

Woke up to SNOW today, the first and hopefully LAST snow this season.

Update:  The shady areas still had snow when we got more snow a few days later.

But, you never know, last year we had at least four snow storms — in 23 years I haven’t experienced anything close to last year’s winter with one atmospheric river after the other and multiple flash floods in the summer of 2022.

From 2019 – 2021 we had two years with NO measurable rain and we rarely get snow on the ground for more than a few hours.

We need the moisture and at least we had no washouts or floods.

Later that evening:

I didn’t get to posting here since last May as I had a long-term rental and was super busy with so many projects.   Just staying alive during the July 2023 heatwave was a challenge.  Around 113 F day after day after day … with only USB fans,  cooling towels, and ice packs since my home is off the grid.

We never know what the weather will bring to the high desert.  And I’m sure it’ll be another “interesting” year.
